The meeting of Madhya Pradesh Muslim Vikas Parishad, which aims to protect the Muslims across the state, was held in Bhopal on Wednesday.
It has been decided that instead of giving importance to any party, they would give preference to the concerned candidate. The vote will go towards the one who knows, understands and accepts the basic needs and facilities of the Muslim community. With this intention, the council officials will talk to both the major political parties BJP and Congress.
Apart from the council officials, the intellectuals of the city were also included in the meeting.
Council President Mohammad Mahir said, at one time there used to be presence of Muslim MLAs in 20 to 22 assembly seats in the state. With time, this figure has now reduced to just 2 seats. No Muslim candidate has been given a chance in the first list of BJP, while the party has been fielding Muslim leaders from the capital for two consecutive elections. More or less, the situation of Congress also appears to be similar, which does not seem to have any intention of moving beyond the two seats it won in the capital.
Mahir said, the percentage of votes of the Muslim community is more than 10 percent in about 33 assembly seats in the state. This vote is considered decisive for these seats. These include Narela assembly of the capital where despite Muslim majority, no party wants to field a Muslim candidate.
He said that now the Muslim community will not remain attached to any party's blindness or opposition to any party, but will vote only for those who will assure the betterment of the community.
He said that a 13-point demand letter was prepared regarding the educational, economic and social development of the society. This demand letter will be given to all political parties before the elections. The society will adopt a positive attitude towards the party which will give adequate representation to the society and pay attention to their problems, otherwise it will vote for such a candidate as an alternative in its assembly constituency, who can reassure them about their problems and the necessary development in their assembly constituency.
Muslim Development Council will conduct awareness campaign by holding elections in the society at the state level. In which people will be motivated to participate in voting as much as possible. So that the society is able to secure its constitutional rights.
