A group of migrant labourers, stranded in Saudi Arabia, have appealed to the Jharkhand Government to facilitate their return to the State. Around 5 labourers from Bokaro, Giridih and Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand were engaged by a contractor for construction of OPG of Transmission in Al Murabba Al Hadi's company in Saudi Arabia.
They said the contractor stopped the work and did not pay them, so they have been stranded with no money and food, the labourers are left in a lurch. All workers from districts are stranded in Saudi Arabia by making a video, the workers have appealed to the Central and Jharkhand governments to return to their homeland.
After receiving the news, the family members of the workers have also demanded the Central and State Government to ensure their safe return home. The workers have said that the company has not paid them salaries for the last eight months. There are also problems with eating and drinking. The visa period of all the laborers has also expired.
Here, Sikandar Ali, who works in the interest of laborers, has appealed to the central and state governments for help in bringing back the laborers stranded in Saudi Arabia.
He said that this is not the first incident,while workers go abroad in search of work and there they have to face torture. With great difficulty they are able to return home. Many such cases have come to light in the past as well.
In such a situation, the government needs to take concrete steps in the same sequence. Among the laborers stranded in Saudi Arabia, Jagdish Mahato of Kusmadih Panchayat of Sariya block of Giridih district, Jivelal Mahato of Pennk Narayanpur of Bokaro district, Vinod Mahato, Chintaman Mahato and Virendra Mahato of Chano Panchayat of Vishnugarh police station area of Hazaribagh district. All these workers had gone to Saudi Arabia on March 28 to work in OPG of transmission in Al Murabba Al Hadi's company.
