Maulana Madani for separate schools for Muslim girls

Thursday, 16 November 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

In an apparent move aimed at polarisation of the community ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind president Maulana Syed Arshad Madani has urged the Muslim community to establish separate schools for Muslim girls in India.

Maulana Madani said that the Muslim girls were being targeted deliberately and that they need to go to separate Muslim schools.

He was speaking at a conference held in Deoband in Saharanpur district, organised by Jamiat, an organisation of Muslim clerics. Over 1,000 Muslim clerics from 17 districts of western Uttar Pradesh participated in the one-day conference.

During the conference, Maulana Arshad Madani made controversial statements on a variety of issues, including the Israel-Palestine conflict and rising communalism.

Madani said that “communalism” in India had increased due to the Israel-Hamas war.

“The Palestinian people are fighting for their freedom while Israel wants to enslave them. Freedom of any country is not achieved just like that but by making sacrifices,” he said.

The maulana said that innocent people were dying as a result of Israel’s “barbaric” actions and even innocent children were not being spared.

Maulana Arshad Madani, however, cautioned the community from raising provocative slogans on the ongoing war in West Asia. He added that people who raise communal slogans should consider that they are only working against the national interests.
