Marandi alleges kidnapping of BJP workers by JMM cadres

Monday, 04 September 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

BJP state president Babulal Marandi called the administration an agent of JMM/ Congress alliance government alleging that present government wants to turn Jharkhand into Bengal. He was talking to journalists at the state office today.

Making a big allegation on JMM, he said that there is panic in JMM due to the increasing popularity of the NDA candidate. In this frenzy, JMM workers Bhola Singh and Tapeshwar Singh have kidnapped BJP workers and former chiefs Mathura Soren and Jaiprakash Mandal in Jaridih. He said that he has spoken to the Director General of Police of the state in this regard. Demanded the release of the workers.

Babulal Marandi said during the conversation that another example of how the government is using the administration was seen in Nawadih. He said that the workers staying in the private school of BJP worker Nirmal Mahato in Nawadih last night were harassed by repeated raids in the name of investigation throughout the night. He said that women in the village are being threatened to have their ration cards cancelled if they vote for NDA.

He said that the state government wants to create an environment of fear. Wants to influence the elections on the power of terror. He warned that NDA workers will also not tolerate the disturbances silently. He said that it is the responsibility of the administration to conduct fair and peaceful voting. If any untoward incident happens, the state government will be fully responsible for it. He said that the state administration should ensure fear-free elections. State media in-charge Shivpujan Pathak and state spokesperson Pradeep Sinha were also present in the press conference.

Campaigning for the September 5 bypolls to Dumri assembly seat ended on Sunday with I.N.D.I.A bloc candidate Bebi Devi locked in a direct contest with NDA candidate Yashoda Devi.

The seat has turned out to be a prestigious one for both alliances amid Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) claiming that the I.N.D.I.A bloc will begin its victory journey from Dumri, while the NDA exuded confidence that it is all set to snatch the seat from JMM.

The bypoll was necessitated following the death of JMM MLA Jagarnath Mahto, former education minister, in April. Mahto had been representing the seat since 2004.
