Maoist aide held with Rs 6.20L

Chhattisgarh Police on Thursday arrested a Maoist supporter with Rs 6.20 lakhs in counterfeit currency in the denomination of Rs 2,000 in Bijapur district.

Mahesh Badse (24) was apprehended near a fuel station in Awapalli, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Chandrakant Governa told The Pioneer.

The police intercepted him when he was heading to Awapalli on a motorcycle. Badse told the police that two Maoist leaders, Shankar and Hadma Kuhrami, had given him the money to deposit it in various banks and withdraw it later.

Badse said he deposited Rs 1.80 lakhs in ICICI Bank three days ago.
