Properties worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes as a major fire broke out at a cloth shop located at Choudhury Bazar in Cuttack city on Friday morning.
As per reports, the fire broke out on the ground floor of the shop and later spread to the upper floors. However, no one was injured in the fire mishap.
Fire Service personnel, on being informed, reached the place and initiated efforts to douse the flames which took them for four long hours.
“Though the fire has been brought under control, smoke emanating from the shop is causing problem for us to enter the building. We are trying to reduce the magnitude of smoke and douse flames on the upper floors,” a Fire Service officer said.
The reason behind the outbreak of fire was yet to be ascertained.
