Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday said that the Modi government had slashed LPG price in the wake of upcoming general elections.
Talking to reporters, Baghel said ahead of elections in Himachal Pradesh too, the Union government cut the price of LPG.
This showed that the claim that prices of petroleum products was led by the oil pool was false and it was up to the Centre to control the prices, Baghel said.
“This is proof that the control over prices of petroleum products lies with the Union government. When they can slash the prices, they also have the power to raise the prices,” Baghel said.
The cut in prices in LPG was done eyeing at the general elections next year, he added.
The Modi government hiked the price of LPG from Rs 400 to RS 1,200 and was now cutting it by a mere Rs 200. How can they claim that relief has been granted to the people, Baghel asked.
On Tuesday, the prices of LPG were cut by Rs 200 to domestic customers ahead of Rakshabandhan.
