Kolar Road police have arrested accused involved in dealing firearms illegally and recovered a 12 bore country made pistol and two live cartridges at Hinotia Alam road.
In view of the upcoming assembly elections and festivals, police are proactively working to prevent illegal liquor transport, illegal trade of drugs, illegal firearms and other illegal activities.
On Thursday information was received that a youth near Hinotia Alam road was carrying country made pistols after which a police team was dispatched to the spot and found the youth.
The accused was identified as Pintu alias Sushant Gupta of Hinotia Alam Kolar and when he was frisked an 12-bore country-made pistol and two live cartridges were found.
Accused said that he did not have any valid document on the demand of license in relation to possession of pistol and live cartridges.
A case under section 25A, 27 of the Arms Act was registered.
The accused holds past criminal record of assault and other crimes.
The accused has been booked for five crimes in the past.
Police would investigate the source of procurement of firearms and would also investigate that the accused is involved in selling firearms or if he was using the firearms to commit crimes.
More crimes would be confessed in the further investigation and the aides of the accused would be searched.
