"Jharkhand is in the grip of a heat wave due to the dominating westerly winds. We don't see any signs of rain in the next 72-hours. The maximum temperature will continue to rise. Keeping this in view we have extended the heat wave conditions," said an official of the local Meteorological Office.
Significantly, the Meteorological Office which monitors weather conditions had first issued a heat wave alert in Jharkhand as the maximum temperature had crossed 44 degree Celsius mark at several places including Bokaro, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj.
“The severe heat conditions are due to westerly to northwesterly winds which are prevailing at lower levels over the region. Heat wave conditions would continue to prevail in parts of Chottanagpur region during the next two days," said the officials.
Meteorologists predict that the heatwave is likely to persist in the region for the next few days. They urge residents to take necessary precautions, such as staying indoors during peak heat hours, wearing lightweight and breathable clothing, and regularly hydrating themselves.
As the blistering temperatures continue to challenge Jamshedpur, the city remains resilient in its efforts to cope with the scorching conditions.
