Irate residents block highway as 2 brothers die in accident

Irate residents blocked the state highway for around three and a half hours following the death of the two brothers on bike hit head on by a cement loaded truck around 9 am this morning today near Panch Mukhi temple. 

The two deceased brothers are Satender Giri alias Sanju and Ravinder Nath Giri alias Vijay. Ravinder was a stamp vendor while Satender was a deed writer. 

The two brothers on bike were coming to Kutchery in Daltonganj when the truck hit their bike head on. 

Ravinder died on the spot while the body of Satender was dragged by the offending truck driver for 2 kms away from the accident site which is Panch Mukhi temple. 

Sadar SDO Anurag Kumar Tiwary who rushed to the accident site said the bereaved family would get the ex gratia relief as per the provision. Tiwary said the sadar CO and the sadar police have been directed to see this case. 

The Sadar SDO added, "Police have noticed and recorded the dragging incident of the dead by the offending truck driver for such a long distance. This inhuman act would be suitably dealt with under the law of the land."

Secretary state disaster management authority Amitabh Kaushal said in road accident death compensation is 1 lakh of rupees straightway first. 

Police are to have the post mortem report in this regard. The highly mutilated bodies are to be postmortem in the MMCH Daltonganj, said police. 

Again the fifth amended rules of the motor vehicle act of 2022 directs the concerned police station under whose limits the motor accident has occurred to send the copy of the FIR to the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal within 24 hours and again the FAR (first accident report) to the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal within 48 hours. 

There are 5 Motor Accident Claim Tribunals in the civil courts Palamu. 

The motor accident and loss of the two lives have occurred under the sadar police station limits and this police are to meet the deadline by all means in respect of FIR and the FAR. 

The seized vehicle here the cement loaded truck is to be released within 15 to 30 days read the amended rules of the motor accident act 2022.

Police sources said the offending truck and its driver were caught and detained by the adjoining police station Lesliganj.
