Infights in INDIA: After SP, now JDU fields its candidates in MP elections

Thursday, 26 October 2023 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

Even before Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections, infights have erupted in INDIA Alliance, first Samajwadi Party showed rebellious attitude against Congress and now JDU has given a jolt to the alliance.

The JDU has released the first list of candidates for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections. Names of 5 JDU candidates are in the first list.

Among the five candidates announced by JDU, Chandrapal Yadav from Pichor assembly seat, Ramkunwar (Rani) Rakwar from Rajnagar, Shiv Narayan Soni from Vijay Raghavgarh seat, Tol Singh Bhuria from Thandla assembly seat and Petlawad Rameshwar Singhar have been made candidates.

Soon after the party released the list, there was a heated discussion in the political circles of Bihar whether the INDIA alliance had entered self-destruct mode. Everything is not going well within the Grand Alliance of Bihar. Both the respective parties Congress and RJD are waiting for the appointment of two additional ministers in the Bihar government.

When Nitish Kumar had started the opposition unity campaign in Patna, while hosting the leaders of many opposition parties, Nitish Kumar had assured that now all the opposition parties will fight the elections unitedly against BJP and candidates of BJP or NDA. Only one common candidate will be given by the INDIA alliance. But in the current assembly elections, Nitish's party lost its patience and in Madhya Pradesh, where there is a face-to-face contest between BJP and Congress, JDU has fielded its candidates.

After the release of the first list of candidates of Nitish Kumar's party, BJP has taken a dig at JDU.

BJP state vice president Santosh Pathak has said that Nitish Kumar lost patience because his party is not getting preference in any alliance. When no one is asking JDU, it is now announcing its candidates. BJP has claimed that the India alliance has collapsed even before the Lok Sabha elections.

After being targeted by BJP, JDU has also given its first reaction. JDU state spokesperson Rahul Kumar has said that for the purpose of organization and electoral expansion, his party has fielded candidates in Madhya Pradesh. The party wants to see its strength in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections and those who are raising questions on it are only doing politics. JDU says that there is no harm in contesting elections for political purposes.

On the other hand, RJD has also given clarification on the entry of JDU candidates into the fray. RJD said that the outline for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections has been decided in the INDIA alliance, in the current assembly elections all the parties are fielding candidates as per their own wherever possible, opposition parties are also helping each other. RJD claims that the opposition alliance India will wipe out BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.

Even though RJD is giving clarification after the announcement of JDU candidates, the reality is that only the first list of JDU candidates in Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections has been released, that is, the possibility cannot be ruled out in the coming days. More JDU candidates will also be in the fray. It will be interesting to see whether JDU fields its candidates in other states also? If this happens, it will prove to be the biggest blow to the opposition unity campaign started by Nitish from his own party.

SP also showed rebellious attitude and announced the names of its candidates apart from Congress. Meanwhile, a lot of rhetoric also took place.

Actually, Akhilesh Yadav lashed out at Congress regarding the distribution of seats in the election state Madhya Pradesh. Amidst the election excitement, the level of tension increased so much that he used words like 'Chirkut' for Congress leaders.

After this, UP Congress State President Ajay Rai said that the person who could not respect his father, how will he respect people like us? On this, Akhilesh retorted and said that some people are elderly, their values are wrong. One should never talk about anyone's father or mother or sister.

Everything was going well during the INDIA alliance and meetings between SP and Congress, but as soon as it came to seat sharing in Madhya Pradesh, things started going wrong. In fact, Samajwadi Party had announced the names of its 22 candidates in MP, due to this Congress got upset and said that if SP contests elections on so many seats than BJP will directly benefit from it. When this news spread in the political circles, Akhilesh Yadav said that if we had known that there was no alliance at the assembly level, we would neither have gone to the meeting nor picked up the calls of Congress leaders.
