BBSR-GUWAHATI FLIGHT FROM OCT 29
Bhubaneswar: IndiGo is all set to operate direct daily flights between Bhubaneswar and Guwahati from October 29, the airline informed on Tuesday. The Bhubaneswar-Guwahati 6E 6913 flight will depart from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar at 1.25 pm and arrive at 2.55 pm at Guwahati. The passengers will reach the destination in just 1.30 hours at a cost of Rs 6,358. In the return direction, the Guwahati-Bhubaneswar 6E 6914 flight will take off from the Guwahati airport at 3.35 pm and reach Bhubaneswar at 5.20 pm. The airfare for the journey has been fixed at Rs 6,389.
‘SHREEMANDIR SAMACHAR’ ENGLISH EDITION RELEASED
Puri: An English edition of the monthly magazine ‘Shreemandi Samachar’ published by the Shreemandir administration was unveiled by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Chief Administrator Ranjan Kumar Das here on Tuesday. In the magazine, details about the rituals of the Jagannath Temple, donations and other information have been provided. MP AMAR PATNAIK RECEIVES KALINGA SAURABH AWARD
Puri: The Sports and Culture Centre, Puri felicitated Rajya Sabha member and eminent educationist Dr Amar Patnaik by conferring the Kalinga Saurabh Award, 2023 on him here on October 15. Kishore Jena, who won the silver medal in the recent Asian Games, was conferred with Kalinga Kreeda Ratna Award. The award was received by his father. The Sports and Culture Centre is involved in multiple outreach programmes to create awareness about critical issues. Its president Damodar Pradhani is a former Special Secretary to the Government of Odisha.

BJD CELEBRATES NAVEEN BIRTHDAY IN JAGATSINGHPUR
Jagatsinghpur: The district BJD unit celebrated Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 78th birthday by organising a blood donation camp, distributing books and fruits, and cutting the cake at old age home on Monday. Total 104 units of blood were collected. Municipality BJD unit president Priyabrata Mohapatra coordinated the event. The BJD fraction led by Amarendra Das celebrated the occasion by distributing books and fruits among inmates of the Sishu Ashram.
3 BENGAL MEN HELD FOR GANJA PEDDLING IN BALESWAR
Baleswar: Acting on a tipoff, police conducted a raid at the Baleswar bus-stand, seized ganja and arrested three persons from a West Bengal-bound bus on Tuesday. Police seized the contraband from six shoulder bags which the accused were carrying. The accused were identified as Sagar Ghosh, Talu Biswas and Swadhin Mandal of Krishnanagar, Nadia of West Bengal. They had boarded the bus at Chhatia in Jajpur district. Co-passengers informed police about their suspicious activities.
CYBERCRIME AWARENESS DRIVE ENDS IN B'PUR
Brahmapur: The closing ceremony of Cybercrime Awareness Programme of Brahmapur was conducted at the SP Office, Brahmapur. IG, Southern Range Satyabrata Bhoi joined as chief guest of the occasion. A police team visited schools and colleges and created awareness among students on cyber crimes. Quiz competitions were conducted and 40 winners and 36 runners up were selected. The IG awarded the winners and encouraged the participants and police personnel who participated in the awareness drive.
ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF PARADIP PRESS MEDIA
Paradip: On Sunday, the annual celebration of the Paradip Press Media was held being presided over by its president Basant Kumar Sahu and coordinated by senior journalist Chitta Swain. Guests included Tathagata Satpathy, who emphasised the authenticity of print media in delivering news. Prof Pradeep Satapathy was the keynote speaker and Baba Lalatendu Keshari guest of honour. A welcome speech was delivered by Karmeswar Swain. The occasion also featured a silent tribute in memory of the late journalist Mahendra Parida. A vote of thanks was offered by Ajit Das.

The event featured poet and feminist Savita Mahapatra as chief guest. Chief speaker was Saroj Kumar Pattnaik, secretary of monthly magazine "Parada”. Prasant Kumar Rout, Secretary of Sambada Sahitya Ghara, delivered the welcome speech. Local poets recited their poems. EX-ASI OF POLICE GETS 2-YR RI
Rourkela: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh on Monday convicted a former Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police in a graft case and sentenced him to two years’ rigorous imprisonment. The court also directed the convict to pay a fine of Rs 3,000 and n default to undergo another two months’ RI. The convict, Udayanath Swain (71) of Dhenkanal district had been caught taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a dumper owner while he was posted at the Balinga outpost under the Hemgir police station of Sundargarh district in 2002. The Vigilance Directorate would now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Swain.
