The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, in continuation with the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ programme and Misson LiFE campaign, organised a mass plantation drive in its premises on September 2.
Around 200 members of the institute participated in the drive with enthusiasm and vigour and planted as many as 320 saplings at 11 locations of the institute's campus.
Shruti Karmalkar and Bamadev Acharya led the plantation drive. Members of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Extra Academic Activity (EAA), along with the employees of the institute participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Acharya said that IIT Bhubaneswar is proud to be a partner in the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ and Mission LiFEcampaigns. He also mentioned that as part of the initiative, conducting plantation drive like this will inspire students and the employees to be sensitized towards taking care of the environment and promoting pride for the motherland.
