Half a dozen people killed in separate road mishaps

Half a dozen people were killed in separate road accidents since Saturday night.

In Barabanki, a speeding dumper went out of control, crashed into the road divider and entered the other lane and hit another dumper and a motorcycle, killing three people, including the cleaner.

On getting information, the police reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

The accident took place near Awadh petrol pump on Banda-Bahraich national highway in Ramnagar police station area in the wee hours of Sunday.

The dumper which lost control was loaded with maurang and was going from Lucknow to Bahraich.

Police identified the motorcycle riders who died in the accident as Raju (36) and Kalyan (30). They were going to Hasnapur after attending a marriage function.

The driver of the other dumper, aged about 38 years also died in the mishap.

The injured were shifted to hospital and a case was registered in this regard by the police.

In Jaunpur, a couple returning from a marriage function late in the night on Saturday met with an accident in which the husband was killed while the wife was critically injured.

Reports said that 52-year-old Subhash of Dharamsari village in the area went to attend a marriage ceremony in Tiari village in Gaurabadshahpur area of the district on Saturday night. He was returning home late in the night with his wife, Chandrakala. He left the Jaunpur-Azamgarh highway and was going via Dharmasari road when a speeding vehicle hit the motorcycle, killing Subhash on the spot and critically injuring Chandrakala.

Two more persons were killed and 11 others were injured in separate road accidents in Ballia and Balrampur districts.

A clerk of the Commercial Tax department was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a speeding tractor in Alavpur village in Sukhpura area of Ballia on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Mahesh Srivastava (47). He was returning from duty when the incident occurred.

A woman was killed and 11, including three children, were injured when their vehicle overturned on Deoria turn in the Dehat area of Balrampur on Sunday.

The accident took place when they were going to a ‘dargah’ (shrine) in Bahraich.

Razia (45) died on the spot. Among those injured, the condition of two was stated to be critical.
