On World Environment Day, on Monday, the state level campaign of 'Natural Farming and Planting' was inaugurated by Governor C.P Radhakrishnan at Arogya Bhawan Ranchi. In the programme IIM Director Deepak Kumar Srivastava, CCL Director Personnel Harshit Mishra, Vice Chancellor of Shri Sai Nath University Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University Vice Chancellor Tapan Kumar Shandilya, Vikas Bharati President Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Vice President Dr. S.N. Munda, Former Vice-Chancellor, Shyama Prasad Mookerjee University, President of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Ranchi, Vikas Kumar Singh, Chamber of Commerce, Kishor Minister, Vikas Bharti Bishunpur and Jan Shikshan Sansthan-Vikas Bharti, Ranchi, workers, trainers and a large number of trainees were present.
The program started with the national anthem and was duly inaugurated by the guests by pouring water on the Tulsi plant. Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, President of the organization and Dr. Ranjana Kumar Chaudhary, Vice President, welcomed the Governor with Angavastram. Joint Secretary of the organization Mahendra Bhagat presented Tulsi plant to the guests on the stage.
Vikas Bharti Secretary, Padma Shri recipient Ashok Bhagat welcomed the guests present in the programme and said that Vikas Bharti Bishunpur has been working in the field of environmental protection for the last 40 years. Our work in the field of environment has been appreciated by both the society and the government. Over the years, the organization has planted lakhs of saplings in different areas of the state. Apart from this, the work of water conservation has been done through the organization's innovative experiment of Borabandh. The organization is doing the work of teaching skills to the youth in every village through its unit Jan Shikshan Sansthan.
I.I.M. Ranchi Director Deepak Kumar Srivastava, said that natural wealth has an important contribution in GDP. At present the GDP of the country is not sufficient. We all know how sustainable our society is today. We will have to think again about the parameters of development, development will have to make a leapfrog policy. Protection of the environment is very important for our health.
CCL Director Personnel Harshit Mishra said that development is necessary but at what cost we will have to decide. As individuals, we are all doing the work of environmental protection, be it social organizations, societies, governments, but this work should start from home (Charity begins at Home). We are celebrating Environment Day. India has got the opportunity to chair the G20, it is a matter of pride for us. To solve the problem of plastic pollution, we have to start from home. We have to take a pledge that we will not use plastic.
The Governor said on the occasion that everyone should avoid the use of plastic. Our environment is being polluted by the use of plastic. Whenever we go to the market, we carry bags, do not use plastic. We should not be ashamed of carrying bags or utensils, should always be conscious towards health and environment. He said that the good works of any institution should be appreciated. People doing good work are being continuously encouraged by the Prime Minister.
After this, the villagers doing excellent work in various fields for environmental protection were honoured by the Governor by giving shawls. Fruit trees were distributed to all the participants. The chief guest of the program, Governor of Jharkhand C.P. Radhakrishnan gave his speech. The program was conducted by Nikhilesh Maiti, Director of Jan Shikshan Sansthan-Vikas Bharti, Ranchi.
