As part of its ongoing efforts to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government is going to renovate the Maharshi Bhardwaj Ashram in Prayagraj in two phases.
Maharshi Bhardwaj was the author of great scientific texts like ‘Vaimanika Shastra’ and is also believed to be the first resident of Prayagraj.
The renovation work will be divided into two parts – Zone 1 and Zone 2. The works to be done in Zone 1 will include widening of road, building of boundary wall in Hindu temple style, inscription of graffiti along with the story of Maharshi Bhardwaj on the wall in the arches of the boundary wall, terracotta boundary wall railing, construction of footpath, benches for sitting, installation of sufficient dustbins, street lights, renovation of shops, toilets, construction of main gate, parking lot, renovation of Ramlila Maidan Chabutra and multilingual audio guide with QR code.
Similarly, works in Zone 2 will include construction of a grand entrance gate, ‘Ardhamandapa’ designed after Hindu architecture on the main temple, revival of all temples located on Bhardwaj Ashram premises, floor construction based on Vedic geometry, construction of aviation-style pathway and lawn as well as shoe rack for devotees.
Furthermore, the works will include establishment of essential facilities, such as shed, beautification of water body, creation of kirtan site, garden, railing of terracotta and red sandstone in boundary wall, engraving of sculpture in boundary wall and construction of frescoes related to establishment of Bhardwaj Ashram.
The temples to be renovated in Zone 2 include Siddhnath Mahadev temple, Prayagraj temple, Maa Sati Kund, Bharat Kund, Rishi Yagyavalkya temple, main temple of Bhardwaj, Vyas Muni, Satyanarayan temple, Tripurari Mahadev temple, Bhola Bhandari temple, Maa Durga temple, Navagraha temple, Panchmukhi temple, Shivji and Bhardwaj temple.
Principal Secretary and Director General Tourism Mukesh Meshram said that special attention was being given to include Hindu architecture in all the temples present in the Bhardwaj temple complex.
Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi has become a unique example of respect for heritage not only in the country but in the whole world. Apart from this, Vindhya Corridor is under construction in Mirzapur and construction of Ram Mandir is going on at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya.
Efforts are also being made to bring back the glory of Dwapar era once again in the entire Braj region. The renovation of Maharshi Bharwaj’s Ashram in Prayagraj is another major effort of the Yogi Adityanath government in the series of initiatives to honour heritage.
