The State Cooperation Department has set a target of disbursing crop loans of 9,500 crore in the 2023 Kharif season.
Cooperation, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister AtanuSabyasachiNayak has instructed that thrust is to be given for providing credit to small and marginal farmers, tenant farmers, oral lessees, sharecroppers and Women Self-Help Groups.
Nayak also stressed that financing of pulses, oilseeds, potato and other remunerative cash crops is to be prioritised and more and more farmers are brought to the ambit of cooperative loan.
During 2022 Kharif season, the cooperatives disbursed crop loans of Rs 8,710.78 crore to 18,00,999 farmers against a target of Rs 9,000 crore which is an all-time high.
During Rabi 2022-23 season, as on March 29, 2023, the cooperatives disbursed Rs 7,812.22-crore loans to 16,23,790 farmers.
All crop loans sanctioned would be credited directly to the savings bank accounts of the farmers.
