Several districts of the State have experienced deficit rainfall in the rainy season this year so far. Among those districts, Ganjam has witnessed the highest deficit of 40 per cent rainfall.
In view of the deficit rainfall, the State Government has prepared a contingency plan to save the crops from the vagaries of nature.
Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu said the Agriculture Department has taken necessary measures to deal with any kind of situation arising out of the deficit rainfall.
“Some places in Odisha have experienced deficit rainfall this year so far. However, the Agriculture Department has prepared a contingency plan for it. Ganjam has witnessed highest deficit rainfall of 40 per cent. The department will take several measures in the district as per the contingency plan. Hopefully, there will be good rain in September and things will improve soon,” said Sahu.
