Dr Ruchi Singh, additional professor in department of Physiology, AIIMS Bhopal was awarded best paper to in two different categories for her research works in a national conference of association of physiologists held at KGMU Lucknow from 27th to 29th October 2023. The first award is "Shri Ram Moorti Smarak award for best research paper in yoga and naturopathy.
This was awarded for her work of Effect of early yoga intervention on post stroke cognitive impairment in patients of ischemic stroke. In which patients in one group were administered yoga in addition to standard of care and it showed that these patients improved significantly better on cognitive domains, compared to the control group.
She had her second award as best research work in the field of Chronobiology as "Prof. Narsingh Verma award". In this research it was seen that even though the bell timings of the school may differ but the bed timings of school going adolescents do not differ much and thus, the early bell timings greatly impact the total sleep duration of children with early school timings. The sleep deprivation due to this immensely impacts their mood leading to depression, anxiety and stress among them. Thus, there is an immense need of educating the students as well as their parents to practice sleep hygiene practices which may play an important role in enhancing the mental health and performance of our young generation. Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS, Bhopal congratulated him for her achievement.
