Congress is mother of corruption: Marandi

Tuesday, 25 July 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

BJP State President and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi attacked the Congress party terming the grand old party as the mother of corruption. Marandi today raised the issue of cow dung scam in neighbouring Chhattisgarh. He said Congress is the mother of corruption. Congress means guarantee of corruption and scams.

Marandi said that Rs 246 crore cow dung scam has been unearthed in Chhattisgarh exposing the character of the Congress party. Marandi said that prior to the cow dung scam, Chhattisgarh has witnessed coal and liquor scam too.

He said that in the Lalu Raj, crores of rupees were looted in the name of fodder by making fake bills on paper, similarly the Baghel government of Chhattisgarh looted crores of people's hard earned money by showing sale and purchase of cow dung on paper itself.

He said that the purchase of cow dung worth Rs 246 crore was shown on paper, in which the sale of Rs 17 crore was shown. Then where was the cow dung worth Rs 229 crore?

Marandi said that after purchasing 2,82,000 kg of cow dung from three women, they were also paid Rs.5,65,000. While the truth is that all three women do not even have a cow. Marandi said that Congress can never be corruption free.

Cowdung procurement by Bhupesh Baghel government become matter of heated discussion between opposition BJP MLAs and ruling party Congress MLAs in Chhattisgarh State Assembly during question hour on Friday, when BJP MLA Saurabh Singh accused that it is a bigger scam than Lalu’s Fodder scam in Bihar. The Opposition accused a scam of ₹229 crore occurred in dung procurement under Godhan Nyay Yojana.

Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh took it a step further in July 2020 by launching a scheme for its citizens to be able to monetise cow dung. The Godhan Nyay Yojana, which intended to provide income support to cattle owners through procurement of dung, is now being pegged by the Bhupesh Baghel government as a source of vermicompost to address the shortage of chemical fertilisers in the state. Plans are also afoot to diversify the cow dung product range by manufacturing items like paint, phenyl and gau kasht (cow-dung log, used in funerals)
