The Uttarakhand Congress has condemned the vigilance raids on the institutions owned by the son of former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that raids were made at the behest of BJP. He said on one hand the businessmen and politicians connected to BJP are enjoying patronage of the government and on the other the senior leaders of Congress party are being harassed. Mahara said that when Rawat was in BJP there was no charge against him but when he left the party he became an eye sore for the government. “ The BJP government has crossed all limits of political vendetta. The Modi government and the Dhami government of Uttarakhand are misusing the agencies such as CBI, ED and vigilance to target political opponents,’’ he said.
The PCC president added that the Congress party has faith in judiciary and is against corruption but misuse of power to raid on the opposition leaders cannot be justified.
