Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s security has been augmented with creation of a dedicated anti-sabotage check team.
As per official sources, the dedicated team will mainly be used during the CM’s visits for attending garlanding events and to public meetings.
The team will consist of two deputy commandant-rank officers, two assistant commandants, four armed sub-inspectors, havildars and sepoys.
The security at CM’s residence has also been increased. Now 91 personnel, including a group of armed sub-inspectors, will be deployed.
Sources said a decision to increase the security cover for the CM was taken after concerns were expressed over the works of Personal Security Officers (PSOs) following the murder of Health Minister Naba Das in January this year.
Besides, a dedicated security training centre will also be set up for which new posts have been created.
Apart from the CM, the security cover for Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Ministers has also been revised. Around 72 additional police personnel will be deployed. A total of 203 new posts have been created for the purpose.
Home Department Special Secretary Santosh Bala has informed the Accountant General (AG) regarding the approval of the Odisha Governor for the strengthening of the security wing under the Intelligence Directorate by the creation of new posts, the sources informed.
