Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi celebrated its 106th Foundation Day on Wednesday. To grace the occasion chief guest was the Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University, Ajit Kumar Sinha and the Guest of Honour was Director, IIM, Ranchi, Deepak Srivastava along with the distinguished guests that were present on the occasion.
The programme started with the welcome address by Director, CIP, Dr Basudeb Das where he talked about the legacy of CIP and the milestones achieved and the future milestones that are to be achieved. He also announced a New OPD building with neurosurgery facilities with 500 beds. Srivastava discussed management and a holistic approach toward mental and social well-being.
On the occasion Sinha emphasized on the changing trends in student's mental health due to globalization and discussed various challenges faced by students and the importance of addressing these challenges. Other dignitaries present on the dias were Former director CIP, Dr D Ram, Administrative Officer, CIP, Dr Avinash Sharma, President of CIP Alumni, Dr Dipanjan Bhattachajee and Matron,CIP, Sawarnbala Soran who released the CIP Bulletin 2023 and the Alumni Newsletter 2023.
Various awards were given to the students and the staff members of CIP. Das, honoured the chief guest of the event and Dr D Ram honoured the guest of honor on the occasion. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Avinash Sharma.
Further, a CME was organised on the topic of "Globalisation and Mental health marching through the G20 leadership" in which Dr Sanjay K Munda covered the topic "Mental Health of Marginalised communities in the era of Globalization" discussing various challenges faced by these marginalised groups and the ways to combat it. Dr Nikhil Nayar gave a "talk on LGBTQ and mental health from global to local" where he traced the challenges faced by this community and how one can help them to become a part of mainstream society. The next topic was taken by Dr Malvika Parikh who discussed the "global trends in mother-baby mental well-being: is India prepared?" where she emphasized the various changing scenarios of motherhood in modern India. The topic Endoxifen: From cortex to clinic" was taken by Dr Pooja Sharma and Dr Chandramauli Roy. This session was chaired by Dr B Das and Dr Nishant Goyal.
