C’garh Police issues cyber alert on job fraud

Thursday, 23 March 2023 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Chhattisgarh Police on Wednesday issued an alert regarding fraudsters who lure people to earn money but end up cheating them of their money.

Several complaints have been registered on the Cyber Crime Helpline number 1930, an official communication said.

The fraudsters obtain the mobile numbers of job seekers. The victim is offered a part-time online job through Telegram, Instagram or WhatsApp. The money is paid on completion of various types of tasks.

The victim is then lured to register through a link to a website where the amount deposited is displayed on the basis of the job profile. Eventually, the money is siphoned away.

The police have told people not give away personal information like mobile number and to avoid trusting such misleading messages or calls.
