Bokaro Steel Plant has added another feather in its cap by winning “Platinum Award” in “14th EXCEED Green Future Award 2023” in the Environment Sustainability category. “EXCEED Green Future Award” is presented by “Sustainable Development Foundation” in recognition of responsible, innovative practices and initiatives towards achieving sustainable goals. Notably, Sustainable Development Foundation (A unit of Ek Kaam Desh Ke Naam), a non-government, non-funded, organization, working for social uplift of the society since 2007, with a vision to bring change in the national scenario.

Environment Conservation & Sustainability department of BSL had filed application on behalf of BSL in “Environment Sustainability” category on 30th  Jun’23.Presentation was done by, Nitesh Ranjan AGM (Environment Conservation & Sustainability) in front of Jury members on 14th July ’23 and queries raised by jury members were handled by GM (Environment Conservation & Sustainability), NP Srivastava. The Jury was quite impressed with the dynamic initiatives of Bokaro Steel Plant for Environment Protection and its efforts to reduce Carbon Emission during the steel making. The jury members consisted of eminent personalities from the field of Environment, Technology, Safety & Sustainability. Based on the application filed and presentation given, the Jury Members have recommended M/s. Steel Authority of India Ltd. Bokaro Steel Plant for “Platinum Award” in “14th EXCEED Green Future Award 2023”in Environment Sustainability category. The award will be presented during “14th EXCEED Green Future Award & Conference 2023”supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & CC, to be organized on 25th August 2023 at Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Steel in itself is a very eco-friendly product as it can be recycled many times without losing its properties unlike Plastic. BSL has achieved best ever sustainability parameters during 2022-23 with Specific CO2 emission as 2.43 T/TCS, PM emission load 0.51 Kg/TCS and Specific Water consumption 3.38 m3/TCS. On this occasion ED (Works), BK Tiwari, congratulated the whole BSL family and reaffirmed Bokaro Steel commitment towards sustainable development of Bokaro & nearby areas.
