SAD to observe its Foundation Day on Dec 14 at Amritsar

Chandigarh: The 103rd foundation day of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will be observed on December 14 as per panthic maryada at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Gurbaksh Singh ji at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Akhand Path will be initiated on December 12 at 10.30 am and bhog of Sri Akhand Path will be held on December 14 at 10 am followed by ‘kirtan’ and ‘ardas’. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal as well as the senior leadership will be encamped at Amritsar from December 12 to 14. They will also participate in ‘sewa’ at Sri Darbar Sahib during this period.

Chandigarh MC conducts training session for officials for toilet grading

Chandigarh: Aiming to provide essential skills and knowledge to accurately complete the 'CT/PT Grading', Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) on Monday conducted a training session as part of the Clean Toilets campaign, with a specific focus on Toilet Grading. The designated Self-Help Group (SHG) team, comprised both Men and Women, and officials from the MCC and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), attended the session at the Municipal Corporation Office. In her address, Municipal Commissioner Anindita Mitra highlighted the importance of equipping the team with the necessary skills and knowledge. In collaboration with DAY-NULM's SHG team, MC Chandigarh will organize comprehensive training sessions before the grading exercise begins. These sessions will cover essential aspects of the grading process, ensuring that the team is well-versed in the evaluation criteria and capable of carrying out their responsibilities with precision and professionalism.

EVM Demonstration camp started in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, an EVM Demonstration camp was started in areas of Daddu Majra and Mauli Jagran in Chandigarh on Monday. Under this camp drive, an EVM demonstration van will roam around the city to demonstrate about the EVM VVPAT machine and also be informed about the usefulness of the evms. During the Camp, Residents of Daddu Majra and Mauli Jagran were experienced/learned how it works and how one can cast his/her vote during the election. Residents enthusiastically participated in the camp and around 125 persons cast their vote as a demonstration using the EVM VVPAT machine.

Application for fifth National Water Award invited in Hry

Chandigarh: The Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti has initiated the process of inviting applications for the 5th National Water Award, 2023, on the National Award Portal. All applications for these awards will be received through the online National Award Portal at https://awards.gov.in/Home/Awardpedia. The applicants can visit this portal or the website of this department (www.jalshakti-dowr.gov.in). The deadline for submitting applications is December 15, 2023. An official spokesperson said that individuals engaged in commendable work in the field of water conservation and management, including any state, district, village panchayat, urban local body, school/college, institution (other than school/college), industry, civic society, water user association, or water conservation and management, are eligible to apply.

Dushyant Chautala inaugurates developmental projects in Hisar

Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Monday spearheaded a series of development initiatives in Hisar, laying the foundation stones for projects worth approximately Rs. 280 crore. He also inaugurated several completed projects, including initiatives at Maharaja Agrasen International Airport. Chautala laid the foundation stone for the Air Traffic Control Room and Terminal Building. He directed officials to expedite the construction process, targeting completion within the next two to three months. Chautala laid the foundation stone for an additional building within the existing Public Works Rest Home complex. Envisioning this project transforming the rest house into the best in the state, he outlined facilities like a CM suite, VIP suites, officers' lounge, and 15 additional rooms. The expansion will also include a conference hall, a committee room, multipurpose hall, gym and yoga hall, office and cyber room, drawing and dining room, shops, and staff quarters. Additionally, a Nirman Sadan, housing offices of various Public Works Department branches, will be established within the complex.

Janata Darbar: Hry Home Minister redresses grievances of people

Chandigarh: Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij on Monday ordered SIT to probe the cases related to fraudulent practices involving crores of rupees in the name of sending people abroad. Vij redressed grievances of people from various districts at his residence. A Kaithal resident alleged that an agent took Rs 22 lakh from him in installments to send his son to Canada, but neither sent the son nor returned the remaining amount. A Karnal woman claimed she paid an agent Rs 9 lakh to send her daughter to Canada for studies, but the agent kept her passport and documents without sending her daughter abroad. A Gurugram woman reported an assault case to the Minister and Vij directed the Gurugram Police Commissioner to investigate.

Hry Guv stresses collective efforts for achieving goal of a Viksit Bharat

Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Monday emphasised the need for concerted and diligent efforts to achieve the Viksit Bharat vision set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the launch of the Viksit Bharat @ 2047 Ideas Portal. With 24 years remaining to realize this common goal, he stressed the importance of collaborative and dedicated work to accomplish the vision. Dattatreya was addressing the Vice Chancellors and Registrars of all State Universities during a seminar on the theme Vikshit Bharat @2047 held at Haryana Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh. He said, “The objective of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, as outlined in the vision of creating New India, is an ambitious goal that mirrors the collective aspirations of the country's citizens and leadership. This vision entails a future where the nation successfully overcome its current challenges and achieve holistic socio-economic progress.”
