HP Governor visits Old Age Home at Basantpur

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Sunday visited the old age home at Basantpur in Shimla rural, and interacted with the inmates and distributed fruits and hygiene kits to them. Accompanied by Lady Governor and State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section chairperson Janki Shukla, the Governor also inaugurated ‘Seva Pakhwada’ being organized by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from September 17 to October 2. He also sends teams of health workers and State Red Cross volunteers for door-to-door health check-up.

 

Punjab Speaker condoles demise of MLA’s mother

Chandigarh: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Sunday expressed deep grief over the sad demise of Mata Balvir Kaur, mother of Khdoor Sahib MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura. Speaker, in his message, said that ‘mother’ is a word which is compared to God. He said that Mata Balvir Kaur ji had a very sincere and warm nature. She led a life of principles. The Speaker prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and to give courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

 

Opposition alliance following disruptive, divisive agenda: Chugh

Chandigarh: BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday said that the divisive and disruptive agenda on ‘ghamandi’ (arrogant) INDIA bloc has started coming into the open. First, they ran down Sanatan Dharma and gave a disruptive call to finish the age-old culture of the country, then they announced to boycott senior media persons. It was a clear indication that this bloc wants to muzzle media’s free voice. Earlier, the Congress had done the same thing during the Emergency and now the entire ‘ghamandi’ alliance was toeing the same line.

 

UT Adviser opens ‘Shopping Fest’ at Sec-22 heritage market

Chandigarh: ‘Shopping Fest-2023’ has started at Sector 22D. Adviser to UT Administrator Dharampal on Sunday inaugurated the festival at a glittering ceremony on Sunday. The inaugural event was also marked by a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the 73rd birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Mayor Anup Gupta was also present on the occasion.

 

Punjab CM congratulates Indian Cricket team for lifting Asia cup

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday congratulated the Indian cricket team for lifting the Asia Cup cricket by defeating Sri Lanka in a spectacular match. “It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that these Indian cricket team has brought laurels for the country by clinging this Cup. Mann said that the Indian cricket team has created history by winning this cup for the eight time. Lauding the entire team and extending best wishes for future, he said that marvelous bowling by Mohammed Siraj had made the match one sided.

 

Rain lashes Chandigarh, surrounding areas

Chandigarh: Rain on Sunday lashed Chandigarh and its surrounding areas, bringing down the minimum temperature by a few notches. The rain spell brought relief from sultry conditions. Mohali in Punjab and Panchkula in Haryana were also lashed by rain. According to the Met office, rain has been forecast at a few places in Punjab and Haryana on Sunday.

 

Youth Cong marked Modi’s birthday as ‘unemployment day’

Chandigarh: Youth Congress’s Punjab and Chandigarh units, in response to the growing concerns over the state of unemployment in India, has taken the unprecedented step of marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday as ‘Unemployment Day’. Youth Congress leaders and workers, through a symbolic act of burning Prime Minister’s effigy, conveyed a clear message that the youth of India will not accept empty rhetoric or superficial solutions like ‘frying pakoras’. Instead, they insist that it is the Government's responsibility to create a helping environment for proper employment opportunities to grow.

 

Team Chandigarh Challengers-Phir Se serves langar to thousands on Sewa Divas

Chandigarh: Setting a remarkable example of team work, the Chandigarh Challengers team served langar to thousands of people despite heavy downpour in the morning. To mark Sewa Divas, a Zero Waste Mahalangar was organized by Municipal Corporation Chandigarh at Shivalik Garden, Manimajra, on Sunday. City Mayor Anup Gupta and Municipal Commissioner Anindita Mitra led the team and served langar to citizens at the Zero Waste Mahalangar. Mitra said that the scale of the langar highlighted the importance of community engagement and collective responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in our surroundings.

Pediatric oncology clinic launched at Max

Mohali: Dr Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal of Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali, on Sunday inaugurated a pediatric oncology and haematology clinic at Max Hospital, Mohali. The clinic will remain open on Monday, Thursday and Friday every week from 9 am to 4 pm, and will offer the services including chemotherapy day care, PET-CT, Paediatric ICU, surgical oncology and radiation oncology.
