Met office predicts light to moderate rains in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla:  Even though the monsoon remained subdued in the past few days in Himachal Pradesh, the local Met office on Thursday predicted a wet spell of light to moderate rain in the state between September 15 and September 20. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from the evening of September 15, the Met office said and predicted light to moderate rains in low and mid hills, and light to moderate rain as well as snow in high hills till September 20. Heavy rain wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh in the months of July and August and the state has so far suffered losses of Rs 8,680 crore due to it.

PGI Launches Program for School Teachers to Help Children with Diabetes during School Time

Chandigarh: The first session of an education program aimed at training school teachers to handle problems faced by children having diabetes was held on Thursday at the Advanced Pediatrics Centre, PGIMER.  Forty school teachers from government and private schools of Chandigarh participated in the session. The training program is envisaged to train at least two school personnel (medical/non-medical) from each school in Chandigarh, followed by schools in the Tricity region.

Hry Govt allocates Rs 28.19 crores for 28,484 Smartphones to enhance Anganwadi Worker efficiency and nutrition monitoring

Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Women and Child Development Kamlesh Dhanda on Thursday said that Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday accorded approval to a project aimed at providing Anganwadi workers with smartphones through the High-Powered Purchase Committee. She said that 28,484 smartphones would be purchased for Anganwari workers, with a budget allocation of Rs. 28.19 crores.

Punjab VB arrests wife of Bhangu in Pearls Group scam 

Chandigarh: The Vigilance Bureau (VB) Punjab on Thursday arrested absconding accused Prem Kaur, w/o Nirmal Singh Bhangoo, Managing Director, Pearls Golden Forest (PGF) Ltd. She was nominated in this case for alienating properties belonging to PACL Ltd. and its subsidiary/group companies in Punjab and authorizing a close confederate to alienate/sell out the properties belonging to PACL Ltd. in violation of the order of Supreme Court.
