Sitharaman to launch 'Mera Bill Mera Adhikar' invoice incentive scheme from Gurugram
Chandigarh: From September 1, GST taxpayers are set to receive a bonanza under Mera Bill-Mera Adhikar Scheme as Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman will launch the Mera Bill-Mera Adhikar Scheme from Gurugram to encourage taxpayers. Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala said that under this scheme, the consumer will have to upload the receipt of the purchase of the goods on the portal and consumers will get rewards through the corpus fund of Rs. 30 crores, through a draw system. He said that this scheme will play an important role for GST collection as more and more people will be motivated to collect GST bills.
PUNJAB VB ARRESTS PUNGRAIN INSPECTOR FOR CAUSING LOSSES OF OVER RS 1.24 CRORE
Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday arrested Pungrain Inspector (Grade-1), Bikramjit Singh for committing embezzlement in wheat and having caused losses to state exchequer amounting to over Rs 1.24 crore during his posting as an In-charge of Pungrain godowns at Khadoor Sahib in Tarn Taran district. Now, the accused Inspector has been posted at Gurdaspur and placed under suspension. An official spokesperson said that the VB unit of Tarn Taran along with technical team had conducted surprise inspection at Pungrain storage godowns at Khadoor Sahib and found 760 quintals and 229 quintals of wheat worth Rs 1,24,93,709 missing from the stock stored in the godowns during 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 respectively. After the checking, an FIR was registered against Inspector Bikramjit Singh at Police Station VB, Amritsar Range. The spokesperson said that an investigation has also been launched to dig out moveable and immovable properties of the accused Inspector.
15-yr-old girl shot dead by stalker in Punjab
Amritsar: A teenage girl has been shot dead in Punjab's Ajnala village allegedly by a youth who was stalking her for the past few months, police on Wednesday. One of the two accomplices of the main accused Dalbir Singh has been arrested, they said. On Tuesday evening, the three accused forcibly entered the house of the 15-year-old girl's aunt and started asking her whereabouts, a police official said. The girl, who was inside the house, came out and a heated argument ensued during which Dalbir Singh shot her and fled, the official said, adding the girl was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead. According to the police, the accused had been harassing the girl for the past many months and pressuring her to marry him. The girl's parents had sent her to her aunt's residence as the accused was constantly harassing her. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act while a hunt is on to nab the other two accused.
