Govt to establish standardization cell for construction and procurement: Hry CS
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Monday said that the State Government will establish a Standardization Cell in the government departments involved in major construction and procurement for improvement and monitoring of quality goods used and procured. These cells will coordinate between the state government, industries and Bureau of India Standard (BIS) in relation to standardization activities. Kaushal said this while presiding over the State Level Committee meeting on Monitoring Standardization and Quality Systems of various products here in Chandigarh. Kaushal directed the departments to actively participate in the training programmes organized by BIS at the level of the nodal officers. He also emphasized the procurement of BIS certified products and services by the government departments.
Hry Home Minister inspects Tangri river and surrounding area of the river
Chandigarh: Amid heavy rains in Ambala, Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij on Monday inspected the Tangri river and its nearby colonies. During this, he gave directions to the officers to deal with the situation of waterlogging. Vij inspected Aman Nagar, Preet Nagar, New Lucky Nagar, Ajit Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Golden Park, Babyal, Ramgarh Majra and other colonies located near Tangri river. During this, he gave directions to the officers that people living around the river should be shifted to safer places. Apart from this, he directed the concerned officers for the accommodation and food arrangements for the rescued people.
Chandigarh schools, colleges to remain closed till July 13 due to heavy rains
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh administration on Monday ordered the UT schools and colleges to remain closed till July 13 (Thursday) due to heavy rainfall in the region. Since Sunday morning, UT Chandigarh has experienced heavy and continuous rainfall and there is prediction for rainfall in the coming days as well. In view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions, the District Disaster Management Authority has issued a detailed order and advisories for the general public, private institutions and government/semi-government offices located in Chandigarh for the safety of the public.
