Strict action to be taken against those found involved in death of bovines in Hry: CM
Chandigarh: Instructing the Municipal Corporation officers to improve arrangements in Gaushala, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said that strict action will be taken against those found involved in the unfortunate case of death of bovines at Phoosgarh gaushala, Karnal. During his visit to the Phoosgarh gaushala, he said that an investigation is underway in the case and the probe has revealed facts that the accused have fed poisonous substances to the cattle. Four accused have been arrested and the absconding accused will also be arrested soon, he added. Khattar said that it is being suspected that the accused were carrying out this incident in connivance with those who trade in dead animals. Though the investigation is still going on in the matter and no one will be spared, he added. He also gave instructions to Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad Gaurav Kumar regarding the care of cattle in Phoosgarh gaushala. Complete arrangements should be made for fodder for the cattle. Along with this, health check-up of cattle should also be ensured from time to time.
Female jail warder arrested red-handed taking bribe of Rs 10,000 in Faridabad
Chandigarh: A team of Anti Corruption Bureau, Haryana has arrested a female jail warder posted in Neemka Jail, Faridabad red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000. The accused jail warder had demanded a bribe in lieu of providing facilities to a female captive. A spokesperson of the Bureau said that Jitendra Dhankhar, a resident of Sector-2 Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, in his complaint, alleged that accused female jail warder Sudesh was demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in lieu of providing facilities to his relative Neha who was lodged in the jail. A bureau team led by DSP Meena Kumari reached Neemka Jail and the complainant contacted the accused jail warder over the phone. As soon as the accused took the bribe amount, the bureau team arrested her red-handed accepting Rs. 10,000.
Punjab Health minister flags off 11 awareness vans about HIV/AIDS
SAS Nagar: To spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, sensitise people and provide adequate treatment to the infected people, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Balbir Singh on Monday flagged off 11 awareness vans from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Science at Phase-6, Mohali. This one-month-long HIV/AIDS public awareness campaign was jointly initiated by the Punjab State AIDS Control Society and Health and Family Welfare Department. These IEC (Information, Education and Communication) awareness vans are equipped with LEDs to exhibit Audio-Visual awareness films to the people, while printed material will also be distributed among them. Lab technicians and counsellors have been specially assigned with these vans, who will conduct free HIV/AIDS tests of the people at their doorstep.
Hiring non-Punjabi yoga instructors is anti-Punjab move: Bajwa
Chandigarh: Coming down heavily at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Punjab for hiring two Delhi-based yoga instructors on hefty salaries, the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday asked if he (Chief Minister) couldn't find some Punjab-based yoga instructors. “The non-Punjabis have been hired at the state-run Guru Ravidas Ayurved University in Hoshiarpur, which is an anti-Punjab move,” said Bajwa while urging the Governor, who is also a Chancellor of Punjab’s universities, to take serious note of this. He said that the Chief Minister has been presenting himself as a flagbearer of Punjabi language. “Did he check the qualifications of these two instructors before hiring them? Have they cleared a mandatory Class X Punjabi language examination with 50 percent marks before taking the jobs in Punjab? CM owes an explanation on this,” he added.
Extend CBI probe into Delhi excise policy to Punjab: SAD
Chandigarh: A day after Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in connection with Delhi excise policy matter, SAD leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday demanded that the CBI inquiry into the Delhi excise scam be extended to Punjab. “Manish Sisodia is also the architect of new Punjab excise policy which has caused losses of hundreds of crores to the State exchequer,” said Majithia, while addressing the media. “The actors and directors of the Punjab excise policy are the same as in the case of Delhi. As in the case of Delhi, the CBI should probe the role of senior officers and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) politicians who had colluded to give huge benefits to select liquor manufacturers like Deep Malhotra at the cost of the State exchequer,” he said.
