The Madhya Pradesh government has freed more than 23 thousand acres of encroachment of government land in the state from the land mafia. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced to build Suraj Colony for the homeless in this land.
Under this, the work of state's first Suraj Colony has started in Kalkheda. Here, land mafia Israr Khan, Pratap Rajvansh and Shyam Sironia had occupied 40 acres of land. A case was registered against them in Ratibad police station under various sections and they were sent to jail. However, after being in jail for five months, the accused were released on bail. The cost of this land is Rs 100 crore. It will cost Rs 60 crore to build Suraj Colony which will take 18 months to complete.
Along with the land mafia, the homeless poor had also built shanties here. The district administration took action against the land mafia and bulldozed their houses. On the other hand, the land has been vacated from the poor and their survey has been done. They will be allotted a BHK flat in this residential project. Notably, the Chief Minister has also performed Bhumi Pujan on December 18, 2022, to build a residential complex here.
“Municipal Corporation is building Suraj Colony in Kalkheda on 25 acres of land freed from land mafia. Its construction work is in progress. Soon after fixing their price, the allotment process will be started,”said KVS Chaudhary Kolsani, Commissioner, Bhopal Municipal Corporation.
