BJP seeks CM’s resignation over excise policy scam, holds protest

Tuesday, 18 April 2023 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The Delhi Police used water cannon to disperse the protesting BJP supporters at the Chandgi Ram Akhada, outside the Delhi Assembly demanding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation over the alleged excise policy scam.

The party workers present outside the Delhi Assembly premise chanted slogans against the AAP supremo and some even tried to breach the barricade placed by security personnel.

They were holding the protest during the daylong session of the Assembly that began shortly after 11am.

Addressing the protesters, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva who led the protesters, said that Kejriwal is the “mastermind” of the “liquor scam” and he will have to go. The protest of the BJP workers led to a massive traffic jam in Civil Lines, Kashmeri Gate and the ISBT.

The police detained some of the protesters, including Sachdeva, as they marched from Chandgi Ram Akhara towards the Delhi Assembly and tried to dismantle the barricades.

Sachdeva said that we had asked five questions to the Kejriwal government to which no answer has been received so far because they do not have answers to the questions.

As soon as Kejriwal came out of the CBI office, Kejriwal gave himself a clean chit but he also needs to understand that the investigation has just begun. He said that the session of the assembly is called to discuss the issues and problems related to the public but the last discussion on the issues related to the public was held in the Delhi Assembly on 29 March 2022 and after that 11 meetings have been held but they did not discuss the problems of the public. There was no discussion on the public issues.
