BJP delegation demands CBI probe in Jsr communal violence

A BJP delegation headed by former state president Dineshanand Goswami met Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan demanded a CBI or High Court probe in the communal violence in Shastri Nagar, Kadma, Jamshedpur, on April 9, 2023. The delegation also urged the Governor to direct the State Government for the release of innocent people from BJP< VHP and other groups arrested in the communal violence.

The BJP delegation handed over the memorandum briefing detailed information about the communal violence.  Handing over the memorandum, it said that on April 9, 2023, communal violence was spread by stone pelting at Jatadhari Shiva temple in Shastri Nagar, Kadma, Jamshedpur. On April 9 itself, hundreds of youths attacked the temple after returning from an Iftar party organized by an organization in Kadma. It is evident from this that some miscreants had a pre-intention to spread communal violence in the city.

The delegation informed that on April 8, near the Jatadhari Shiv Temple located in Shastri Nagar (Kadma), tension arose in the area when pieces of meat were found hanging from polythene on a pole with Mahavir flag. The people of the temple committee asked the administration to arrest the person who hanged a piece of meat on the pole of the Mahavir flag within 24 hours, to install CCTV in the area around the temple and to remove the encroachment of shops selling meat illegally encroached next to the temple. The administration assured to fulfill all the three demands.

The BJP delegation further states that on April 9, in the evening, an Iftar party was organized by an organization in a ground in Kadma, in which 2 to 3 thousand people had gathered. Many leaders of Congress and JMM were involved in this Iftar party. Some rumours spread about the Iftar party. From there, hundreds of youth gathered near the mosque in Shastri Nagar and started shouting slogans and started throwing stones at the temple. When the police refused and used force on the miscreants, the miscreants started throwing stones at the police.

The delegation also highlighted police highhandedness with BJP workers. On April 10, a large number of police reached the house of BJP leader and former metropolitan president Abhay Singh at Kashidih (Sakchi police station) early in the morning and arrested him like a criminal and kept him in the custody of Bishtupur police station. On protesting by BJP workers and people, he was taken out of custody. According to the information received, Abhay Singh did not go to the spot at all. On April 10 morning, the police raided the houses of several BJP, VHP and other Hindu leaders including former Metropolitan President Nandji Prasad, Sudhanshu Ojha to arrest them.

The BJP delegation included State General Secretary Dr. Pradeep Verma, former Home Secretary cum State Working Committee member JB Tubid, former IG cum State Working Committee member Laxman Prasad Singh, former MLA Laxman Tudu, Jamshedpur Metropolitan President Gunjan Yadav, Metropolitan Vice President Sanjeev Sinha, Metropolitan General Secretary Anil Modi , Rakesh Singh, Kadma Mandal President Rajesh Singh among others.
