The DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar organised an awareness programme entitled ‘Cyber Safety and Responsible Use of Social Media’ in association with the Commissionerate of Police, Bhubaneswar.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar Prateek Singh and Assistant Commissioner of Police Anjana Tudu joined as speakers on the occasion. Addressing the gathering on cyber safety, Singh advised the students to be discreet users of the internet and social media sites while adopting all the safety measures to protect their personal credentials.
In her deliberation, Tudu highlighted the pros and cons of excessive exposure to social media by the student community. “Social media not only distracts the students from their studies but also often implores them to take different undesirable and unprecedented steps,” said the ACP in her advice to the students.
The DCP announced about the initiative taken by the Commissionerate Police by starting a help desk called ‘Cyber Sathi’ taking the student representatives of different schools to help solve the cases arising out of breach of cyber safety norms.
Principal Bipin Kumar Sahoo thanked the guests for their noble gestures of spending their time in enlightening the young minds. The programme was smoothly organised by the IT Department of the school.
