An advocate and the nephew of a gram pradhan were killed in Hardoi late on Wednesday night. One person was also injured in the incident.
According to reports, the incident took place in a village under Majhila police station of Hardoi. Inspector General of Police Tarun Gaba said that 28-year-old advocate Amit Shukla of Para village, gram pradhan Nandlal’s nephew Ramakant Kushwaha and 30-year-old Santosh Kushwaha went for some work to Todarpur block headquarters on Wednesday evening.
When the three were returning from there, a Bolero hit their motorcycle near Gautiya village on the way. After this, the occupants of the four-wheeler started abusing the trio and later attacked them with knives and screwdrivers.
The miscreants also crushed the victims under their vehicle and threw them in a ditch before fleeing the spot.
Amit Shukla and Ramakant Kushwaha died in the attack, while Santosh Kushwaha was injured. Santosh was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
After getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.
The police claimed political rivalry as the motive behind the killing.
Police registered a case and have started the investigation. They also seized the Bolero and launched a hunt for its owner.
Meanwhile, the Bulandshahr police arrested a 60-year-old self-styled godman, who was on the run for more than two years, for the murder of his girlfriend's son. According to the police, Amar Singh was strangled to death and his body was thrown in the forest. Later, the police recovered Amar's partially burnt body from the area. During the investigation, the police found that Amar was last seen with Sujan Singh. The accused was arrested with an illegal country-made pistol from a village temple in Salempur area of Bulandshahr district, where he was hiding.
Bulandshahr’s Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said Sujan Singh was wanted in connection with the murder of Aligarh resident Amar Singh. Amar Singh used to oppose the illegal relationship between his mother and the accused.
Meanwhile in Sitapur, a man killed his servant to frame murder charges on his opponents. The accused, however, was arrested and he also confessed to the killing.
Reports said that Nokhe (30), a resident of Bhudia under Maholi police station in Sitapur, used to work as a labourer at Omu Singh's place for the last four years. His body was found lying near the Lucknow-Sitapur-Delhi railway track outside the village on Wednesday night. He was shot dead.
It was Omu Singh who informed about the murder on UP 112. On information, Maholi Kotwali police reached the spot and started investigation. On coming to know about the incident, Superintendent of Police Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan also reached the spot.
Omu Singh started accusing a person from the village of killing the servant. During investigation, the police found that Omu Singh had given false applications several times against a resident of the village. At first Omu Singh tried to mislead the police but during interrogation he broke down and confessed to the crime.
SP Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan said that Omu Singh had himself shot Nokhe with a pistol to frame his opponents.
The police took Omu Singh into custody and have also recovered the pistol used in the murder.
