Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday condemned the BJP for supporting controversial movie "Adipurush" and said the film was made at its behest to promote religious sentiments.
The film thanks Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Nath, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other BJP leaders for providing assistance, he said.
The film portrays Lord Ram as well as Lord Hanuman as a warrior in order to promote violence among people, Baghel said.
He also questioned the silence of BJP leaders on the film and said that promoting such controversies helps BJP to polarize people.
Written and directed by Om Raut, Adipurush is a mythological tale based on Valmiki's Ramayana. The film was made on a huge budget of Rs 500 crore and thereby earned the tag of the most expensive Indian film. Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon play lead roles in the movie.
