In a bid to tackle the growing concerns surrounding illegal mining and mineral transportation, a crucial meeting of the District Level Mining Task Force was held, headed by District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Manjunath Bhajantri. The meeting, convened at the Collectorate Auditorium in Jamshedpur, aimed to intensify actions against these illicit activities while also reviewing pollution safety standards within the crusher and mineral sector.
Attended by esteemed officials including Senior Superintendent of Police, Prabhat Kumar, Deputy Development Commissioner, Manish Kumar, SDM Dhalbhum, Piyush Sinha, ADM Law and Order, Deepu Kumar, and SDM Ghatshila, Satyaveer Rajak, among others, the discussion focused on curbing illegal stone and sand lifting, along with unauthorized mining of various minerals. The Deputy Commissioner meticulously examined the implementation status of prior decisions and sought updates from the District Mining Officer.
Deputy Commissioner Bhajantri left no room for ambiguity as he directed the Mining Task Force to enforce stringent measures against any form of illegal mining, transportation, and storage activities. In a similar vein, the District Transport Officer was instructed to take legal action against vehicles found without proper registration numbers or those exceeding legal load limits.
Underlining the importance of adhering to pollution safety regulations, Bhajantri emphasized the need to address pollution originating from crushers. He called for immediate investigation and action against those crusher units and mines that disregard pollution safety norms. Furthermore, he proposed the formation of collaborative teams to combat the unlawful extraction of sand and stones.
Updates on the progress of actions taken against individuals engaged in illegal mining, transportation, and storage were provided by the District Mining Officer. In an effort to eradicate this menace entirely, all circle officers, police station in-charges, and forest department officials were urged to bolster the information sharing mechanism and work in tandem to effectively combat the activities of the mining syndicate. Bhajantri stressed that prompt filing of First Information Reports (FIRs) upon catching individuals involved in illicit activities was imperative, underscoring the importance of conducting routine investigative campaigns.
The meeting was attended by District Mining Officer Sanjay Sharma, District Transport Officer Dhananjay, along with circle officers and pertinent departmental representatives.
