The State Government would appoint around 5,000 doctors in the coming days, said Health Minister Niranjan Pujari in the State Assembly while replying to a question by Rairangpur MLA Naba Charan Majhi on Monday.
The MLA had expressed concern mentioning that the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital currently has mere six doctors against 37 posts. The Minister said doctors would be appointed in this hospital on a priority basis.
Replying to another question by MLA Mohan Majhi, the Minister said a decision has been taken to increase the number of beds in Government healthcare facilities of the State by 21,342 in the next financial year in view of the rise in number of patients.
The Minister further said there should be 100 hospital beds in every 1,000 persons while the figure currently stands at 71 in the State.
