In a sensational incident, three persons of a family, including a father-son duo, were shot dead in Nagla Antram village under Karhal police circle in Mainpuri.
The motive for the triple murder was said to be a dispute over possession of a piece of land between two related families and an enmity festering for years. The accused, identified as Rahul Yadav (28) used a country-made firearm and fired at four members of a family. Three of them died while a woman was grievously injured. She was admitted to the Saifai Medical College and Hospital in Etawah.
Superintendent of Police, Mainpuri, Vinod Kumar said, “Teams have been constituted to nab the accused named in the complaint and a case is being registered. The accused are absconding and a manhunt has been launched to arrest them.”
“Prima facie, it was a dispute over a piece of land which passes between the houses of the two families. The family of the accused raised some structure on Sunday evening, but the matter did not flare up as the victim’s family remained silent and lodged no complaint with the police,” Kumar said.
“However, the main accused, Rahul Yadav, assisted by other members of his family, attacked the other family, headed by Rameshwar Yadav (80), on Monday night.
Rameshwar Yadav, his 52-year-old son Kayam Singh Yadav and 30-year-old Mamta Yadav were shot dead, he said. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
Meanwhile a jilted lover killed a girl and later committed ended his life in Pilibhit on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place in Gyanpur Maholiya village. The daughter of a villager was going to plant paddy with her friend on Tuesday morning. Manjeet, who lives in the neighborhood, suddenly came out with a pistol and pushed the girl’s friend. He then shot the girl in the chest. She died on the spot.
The accused reached his home thereafter and shot himself in the head. He also died on the spot. Senior police officers reached the spot and claimed that prima facie, it appeared to be a one-sided love affair, but they were looking into the matter with the possibility of ‘honour killing’.
