2 shooters of Arsh Dalla gang arrested in Capital

Friday, 13 October 2023 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested two shooters of Canada based gangster Arshdeep Singh Dalla alias Arsh Dalla gang after a brief encounter on Ring Road near Sarai Kale Khan on Wednesday night. The police said the arrested duo, Krishan Kumar and Gurinder, are associates of fugitive gangster Arsh Dalla.

They were wanted in the local Congress leader Baljinder Singh Balli , who was shot dead at his home in Punjab’s Moga. Balli (45), who was also known as ‘namberdar’ locally, was the Congress block president in Ajitwal village.

According to police, on the basis of a specific input, the team intercepted the duo on Outer Ring Road and on being asked to surrender, one Krishan fired one round towards the police team. Suddenly, the second gangster took out one live hand grenade from his bag but before he could pull the safety pin, they were overpowered by the team.

“One live hand grenade and one pistol along with five live cartridges were recovered. A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered and further investigation is in progress, “ said the official.

The arrest was part of a larger operation by Delhi Police’s Special Cell, aimed at cracking down on organised crime and terror activities in the region. The two were found in possession of a hand grenade, a pistol, and five cartridges.

Canada-based gangster Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala, a native of Dala village in Moga, is wanted by the NIA and Punjab Police.  In his post, Dalla alleged that Baljinder Singh Balli had ruined his future and forced him into the gangster culture. Arsh Dalla, took responsibility for the murder in a detailed Facebook post. He also mentioned that the Congress leader was behind his mother’s police custody, which motivated him to seek revenge.

His involvement had also emerged in various targeted killings that took place in the border state of Punjab along with supplying militant hardware including RDX, IEDs, AK-47 and other arms and ammunition to modules in the state after importing them from Pakistan. A red corner notice against Arsh Dala was issued in May 2022.

On October 7, the Special Cell had arrested Harjeet Singh, the last prominent on-ground operative of the Arsh Dalla-Sukha Duneke terror-gangster alliance, who was wanted by the law enforcement agencies, including the NIA, for multiple murders in Punjab and Haryana.

An official said that Harjeet Singh (27), a resident of Bathinda district in Punjab, had been evading arrest for the past two years.

A few days ago, Mohali police had arrested Mandeep Singh, alias Deepa, of Ajitwal, Moga; and Saurav Kumar, alias Saabi of Ludhiana. Both are associates of Dala.

The duo was wanted by the Ludhiana and Moga police in multiple criminal cases and had also been declared proclaimed offenders by the respective local courts.

According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Dalla gang is engaged in smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosives for the KTF from across the border.

Dalla has been guiding and commissioning terrorist acts and also promoting terror, violence and large-scale extortion in India on behalf of the KTF.
