The Chandwa police in Latehar district have nabbed all the 13 accused of lynching the tribal couple to death said the SP Latehar Anjani Anjan. The 13 arrested were remanded in judicial custody today added the SP.
An elderly Ganjhu couple was lynched to death on the intervening night of Tuesday /Wedbesday at village Hesla under the Chandwa police station. The deceased have been identified as Sibal Ganjhu, 60 and his wife Boni Devi, 58.
Their daughter in law has been thrashed badly. SP Latehar Anjani Anjan said this incident is born out of superstition and the poor couple was listed as 'witch's. Anjan Anjan said the couple was said to have refused to accept Sarhul Puja flowers.
This was seen by the co villagers as most disgraceful and blasphemous to the Sarhul Puja. Again on the Sarhul Puja two youths were killed in road accident.
This couple was blamed for all this as the couple had refused to accept Sarhul Puja flowers and that incurred the wrath of Nature and it took 2 young lives. An FIR has been lodged against more than a dozen people.
