: The NTPC Kaniha organised a media appreciation session on the ongoing Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2023.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director, NTPC Talcher Kaniha K S Sundaram described the programme as a game changer in the life of the participants as it had the potential of unveiling the hidden talents of the little girls.
 
He said that the NTPC conducted the GEM residential workshop at 41 locations across the country which benefited 2,700 plus girls. Around 120 girls of class six from 20 nearby schools participated in the 4- week residential workshop at NTPC Kaniha. The workshop is free of cost for the participating students.
 
The participants of GEM 2023 performed a live presentation of song, dance and martial art at the township Recreation Centre, Deep Tarang, in front of the mediapersons which received huge applause.
 
At the end of the year, one winter workshop would be organised for these girls where their progress would be evaluated and the best ten performers would be offered free education up to Class-XII in township schools, it was informed.
 
Among others, GM(O and M) AK Sehgal, GM (AHD) Satya Rama Krishna and AGM(CSR) Rafiqul Islam and AGM(HR) BK Pandey and Senior Manager (Corporate Communication) Saibal Ghosh were present.
