Lashing out at the BJP-led Central Government, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday asserted that there are “two Shahs” sitting at the Centre — one is Amit Shah and the other is ‘Tanashah’ (dictator).
Mann, who on Sunday joined other top Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders to stage a protest dharna outside the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in the national capital against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s questioning by the central probe agency in the liquor policy case, said that seeing Kejriwal going to Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and also to Chhattisgarh, and earlier in Gujarat, they created hurdles for him; and that was why he was called today.
“But if any AAP worker put up a poster against Modi ji, they say you cannot do this. This is not democracy but dictatorship. Two Shahs are sitting there one Amit Shah and another tanashah,” said Mann.
Several AAP leaders, including Punjab Ministers and MLAs, alleged that they were stopped from entering Delhi. Many of them were detained for protesting outside CBI’s Delhi office, while others were detained at Delhi borders.
AAP leaders from Punjab, including Ministers, were headed for Delhi to show support to party chief Kejriwal. The ruling party in Punjab claimed that its ministers — Bram Shanker Jimpa, Dr Balbir Singh and Harjot Singh Bains, and MLAs Dinesh Chadha and Kuljit Randhawa were among those stopped at the Singhu border and not allowed to enter Delhi.
Health Minister Dr Balbir said that democracy was being “murdered” in the country, and tweeted that “…Many of my cabinet colleagues, MLAs & volunteers have been illegally detained at Badli. Shame”.
Meanwhile, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema slammed the BJP for “targeting” AAP chief saying that it was scared of Delhi Chief Minister's “rising popularity”.
Cheema, also referring to the AAP gaining status of a 'national party' from the Election Commission, said: “We are gaining the people’s support wherever we are fighting elections. In just 10 years, AAP has (formed) governments in two states…AAP got 13 per cent and six per cent vote share in Gujarat and Goa, respectively. BJP is scared of AAP and Kejriwal.”
