Department of Orthopedics of AIIMS Bhopal and the Bhopal Orthopedic Surgeon's Society successfully organized a saw bone workshop on basic principles of fracture fixation for Orthopaedic postgraduate (trainee) students on Sunday.
Students of AIIMS, Gandhi, LNCT, People's, and Chirayu medical colleges actively participated in the scientific sessions that included lectures and hands-on workshop on external fixation and plating of bones.
The Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Bhopal, Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh inaugurated the workshop, interacted with the students, and guided them the use available resources for better learning. He emphasized on the importance of such workshops with active involvement of all the medical colleges so that students can learn the nuances of Orthopaedic surgery and carry these skills to their professional lives. Faculty from different medical colleges delivered meticulously prepared lectures on different modalities of fracture fixation.
The faculty interacted with the students and demonstrated the various techniques of fracture fixation. The students went to the skill lab and performed the hands-on part of the workshop on saw bone (artificial bone) models. Their doubts were cleared in one-to-one discussion.
