In a bid to curb crimes, the Commissionerate police on Wednesday decided to the ‘Sahabhagita’ scheme to the capital city, which was in place in Cuttack from 2022.
Under the scheme, majority of the areas are brought under direct surveillance using the existing CCTV cameras installed at crucial junctions by private oragnisations and residents.
The Commissionerate police have appealed to the CCTV camera owners of common locations like malls, markets, business houses, apartments and others in Bhubaneswar to share their IP addresses.
“CCTVs play a crucial role in city surveillance, crime prevention and control and traffic management. We urge apartments, banks, jewellery stores to connect their CCTVs with us and share IP addresses. We urge them to install one CCTV camera focusing main road,” said Commissioner of Police Saumendra Priyadarshi.
All the information would be kept confidential. People can get more details about the initiative from the concerned local IIC or by dialing 94392 24441.
