Balangir Lok Sabha member Sangeeta Singh Deo and Rajya Sabha member Niranjan Bisi have demanded early completion of the Khurda-Bolangir railway line as it would provide direct connectivity of people of this region with capital Bhubaneswar besides boosting economic growth.
They reiterated the demand while congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for flagging off Vande Bharat Express from Puri to Howarh besides launching of a railway line which includes 10 km from Bichhupali to Jhartarbha in Subarnapur district.
Singh Deo said the construction of Khurda-Bolangir line is progressing at good pace; and by June this year, it is expected to reach Sonepur. However, the entire line should be completed early.
The foundation-stone for the Khurda-Bolangir line was laid way back in 2001 by the then Railways Minister Digvijaya Singh in Balangir.
Niranjan Bisi also demanded a direct train from Balangir to New Delhi.
