‘Bal Aadhaar’ prog launched in State

A ‘Bal Aadhaar’ programme for children below 5 years of age started in Odisha on Thursday.

For Aadhaar card registration of an infant, the mobile phone number of the father or the mother will be used. The registration will be free of cost within 21 days of the birth of the baby, official sources said.

The parents can contact the authorities of the hospital for registration process.

For children below 5 years of age, no biometrics will be captured. Their Unique Identification (UID) will be processed on the basis of demographic information and facial photograph linked with the UID of their parents.

These children will need to update their biometrics of ten fingers, iris and facial photograph when they turn 5 and 15. Intimation to this effect will be mentioned in the original Aadhaar letter.
