Australia and England are currently engaged in the third match of The Ashes 2023. At the end of day three, England reached 27/0 at stumps in a chase of 251 after their bowlers made good use of the overcast conditions to bowl out Australia for 224.
During the match, a bizarre incident took place when the hosts former skipper, Alastair Cook, mocked Aussie wicketkeeper Alex Carey. He commented that Alex didn't pay a barber after getting a haircut. Australia star Steve Smith joined him and added further, suggesting that the stumper didn't even get a haircut.
After Cook's comment turned out to be false, he issued an apology and said it was probably a case of mistaken identity.
"[The barber] said, he hasn't paid," Cook had said while speaking on BBC Test Match Special on the opening day of the third Ashes Test. "It was one of those cash-only ones, and he promised he would have a transfer later in the day, and this was just before he shut. This is a true story, I'm not making it up."
Smith and Australia cricket reacted to Cook's Claim
Smith claimed that Carey did not had a haircut since they were in london.
"I can confirm that Alex Carey has not had a haircut since we were in London. Get your facts right The Sun," wrote Smith on Threads, the newly-launched Twitter rival.
