One person who was riding a bicycle was killed on the spot when a bus carrying religious tourists overturned into a road side khud while trying to save him in Kaushambi. About 30 bus passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital in an ambulance and auto-rickshaws.
A bus carrying 60 devotees left Barra in Kanpur for Kade Dhaam in Kaushambi. The bus was stopped in Fatehpur where the passengers visited Sankata Devi temple and left for Kade Dhaam.
A cyclist, Rahul of Fatehpur suddenly appeared on the road near Alipur Jeeta village and in an attempt to save him the bus slipped into a road side khud. The cyclist breathed his last on the spot while the bus passengers were rushed to Kade Dhaam community health centre (CHC)) in an ambulance and auto -rickshaws by the police.
Some seriously injured persons have been referred to Prayagraj and Kanpur for better treatment. Those who are serious include Nanaki Devi, Rakesh Nishad, Sohan Lal, Beena, Savita, Sunita and Rajani Sharma.
ARRESTED: Two constables of Handia police station were arrested by the Bhadohi police for allegedly demanding money from a dhaba owner and threatening him. The constables were accompanied by two others and one of them was nabbed by the police while the other managed to escape.
Four persons reached the dhaba near Gopiganj Chhatami on a Safari bearing police sticker. Posing as officials from Lucknow they said they had arrived in connection with a survey.
They took snaps and video of the dhaba, noted down name and address of workers in the name of survey and had meals. While leaving the place, they allegedly asked the dhaba owner to pay Rs 5 lakh as bribe otherwise he will be sent behind bars. The dhaba owner got suspicious and asked the workers to overpower them and informed the police. On the arrival of the police, the constables told them that they were from the Police department.
They also tried to frame charges against the dhaba owner. In the meantime one of them managed to escape in the Safari.
The police department has initiated action against the above constables, while the owner of the Safari is being traced.
